Survivor Sprite

Before starting this project I didn't ever do art in my own time and was never very good but we only had 1 artist who had a lot of sprites to make for out 2 coder so i took on the challenge of learning to draw pixel art .

To make the character i used a simple website called pixilart the link can be found bellow:

i started off by just testing out the software and giving a character drawing an attempt to see where i can improve. 

this was my first attempt at trying to get a walking animation the character itself is not very detailed but i use this as an example to show and ask my group for feedback which helped me create a more professional looking character and 1 that suited our vision.

I watched youtube tutorials and drawing pixel art character top down and learnt many techniques to make the sprite look better and how to improve my animation with more in depth separate frames to really animate his arms and legs unlike my first attempt this is my final sprite for the survivor:

I found it difficult to animate the left and right walking sprites to make it look as smooth as i could but we got there in the end but it is all apart of the learning process and why we do this project.
